Master Tailor Fit Correction

When a quality garment does not fit correctly, the first step is not simply taking it in or letting it out. Master Tailor Jin Lee evaluates the balance of the garment and the body before deciding what should be corrected.

Evaluate First. Correct Only What Makes Sense.

Not Ordinary Alterations

More Than Taking In or Letting Out

Ordinary alterations often focus on size — taking a garment in or letting it out. Master Tailor Fit Correction focuses on balance, proportion, and how the garment hangs on your individual body.

Size can be altered. Balance must be understood.

Final Fit Adjustment is available only for garments made or ordered through Lee's Custom Tailoring. We do not accept outside alteration work.

Recognize the Signs

Common Fit Problems

These are some of the most common signs a quality garment needs a Master Tailor's evaluation — not just a simple alteration.

  • Jacket pulling across the front or back
  • Uneven shoulder appearance
  • Jacket twisting
  • Collar not sitting correctly
  • Sleeves hanging incorrectly
  • Jacket front/back balance problems
  • Trouser balance problems
  • Excess fabric in the wrong area
  • Garment imbalance after body proportions change
  • Quality garments that still never feel right

A Master Tailor Fit Evaluation

What Master Tailor Jin Lee Evaluates

Before any correction is made, Jin Lee personally evaluates:

  • Posture
  • Shoulder slope
  • Left/right balance
  • Jacket balance
  • Chest/back balance
  • Front/back length
  • Sleeve pitch
  • Trouser balance
  • Proportion
  • Existing garment construction

Before changing the garment, understand the cause.

How It Works

Fit Correction Process

Master Tailor Jin Lee personally evaluates the garment and the fit throughout.

  1. 01

    Inspect

Jin Lee personally examines the garment's construction, fabric, and existing alterations.

  2. 02

    Observe the Body

Posture, shoulder slope, and balance are observed alongside the garment.

  3. 03

    Identify the Cause

The reason the garment doesn't sit correctly is identified — body, garment, or both.

  4. 04

    Decide Whether Correction Is Worthwhile

Jin Lee determines whether correction makes sense before any work begins.

  5. 05

    Correct & Recheck

If correction proceeds, the fit is rechecked in person by the Master Tailor.

Jin Lee personally evaluates the garment and fit at every step — not a single part is handed off.

When Correction Makes Sense

Garments Worth Correcting

Fit correction may make sense for:

  • High-quality suits
  • Custom or bespoke garments
  • Expensive jackets
  • Favorite garments worth preserving
  • Garments affected by moderate body change
  • Wedding or formal garments requiring better balance

Honest Guidance

Sometimes Replacement Is the Better Choice

Correction may not make sense when:

  • Construction does not allow safe alteration
  • The garment is too far from the required size
  • Correction cost would exceed the garment's practical value
  • The fabric or internal construction cannot support the needed change

A Master Tailor should also know when not to alter.

Two Paths Forward

Custom Garment or Fit Correction

Depending on what you already own, one path usually makes more sense.
